11-year-old swing bowler impresses Rohit Sharma: ‘If you stay in Perth how will you play for India’

It’s not every day you get the chance to bowl Team India captain Rohit Sharma. Meet Drushil Chauhan, whose smooth action impressed Rohit Sharma and called the 11-year-old to bowl him at the nets.

After their web session, Rohit asked Drushil: β€œYou stay in Perth; How will you play for India?”

Pat got the answer: “I will go to India if I am good enough.”

Team India video analyst Hari Prasad Mohan narrated the story in a video released on BCCI’s official website.

β€œWe arrived at WACA for a training session, the kids were finishing their morning event. As soon as we entered our dressing room we could see 100 weird kids playing cricket and having fun. There was one child who caught everyone’s attention and Rohit was the first to identify the child and after watching him the two to three balls he threw everyone was amazed at his smooth start and his natural talent,” said Hari Mohan.

β€œRohit walked out of the dressing room and asked the boy to throw a few more balls. Rohit Sharma invited him to bowl; It was a sight to behold. It was a memorable moment for the boy when he was able to bowl against the Indian captain,” he added.

Speaking of the incident, Drushil said: “Rohit Sharma saw me and told me to bowl. I was very surprised, the day before my dad told me maybe I could bowl Rohit so I was very excited. My favorite ball is Swinging Yorker.”

Drushil was also later allowed into the Team India dressing room to interact with the players and coaching staff.
