Union Interior Minister Amit Shah will flag out three “Gaurav Yatras” of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat on Thursday as part of his party’s campaign for the forthcoming National Assembly elections. On Wednesday, BJP President JP Nadda deregistered two such yatras in the state.
Elections for the 182-seat Gujarat Assembly will be held by the end of this year. Shah will flag in a yatra from Zanzarka in Ahmedabad district in the morning. This yatra will end in the temple city of Somnath.
He will then launch two more Gaurav Yatras from Unai in Navsari district in the afternoon. From Unai, one yatra goes to the Ambaji temple covering the state’s tribal belt, while another reaches the temple town of Fagvel in Kheda district.
The central leaders of the BJP, as well as those of the state entity, will join the yatras at various points, the party said in a press release. The BJP is planning a total of five yatras of eight to nine days each, covering 144 constituencies as part of the campaign.
