In election-bound Gujarat, the war of words intensified when Union Minister Anurag Thakur slammed interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi and Gopal Italia, the head of AAP’s Gujarat unit, without giving their names for killing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and allegedly “offended” his mother.
Thakur previously claimed an “Italian woman” (apparently referring to Sonia Gandhi) “insulted” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now an Italia (Goapl Italia) insults his mother.
The BJP leader also claimed that there is a “huge BJP wave” in Gujarat and “this time we will break all previous records”.
“An Italian woman used to insult Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now Italia is insulting his mother. Gujarat did not accept this insult earlier and will not accept it now. Gujarat will provide an appropriate response,” PTI news agency reported, citing Thakur.
“With the blessings of the people here, Modi ji came to power with a landmark majority in 2014 and 2019. Also in 2024, Narendra Modi ji will come with over 400 seats,” he said.
The President of Gujarat’s AAP has come under fire from the BJP for his comments in recent days. He was detained by Delhi police for nearly three hours on Thursday after appearing before the National Women’s Commission (NCW) in connection with his alleged statements against PM Modi.
A video has surfaced on Twitter of Italia allegedly mocking PM Modi’s 100-year-old mother Hiraba.
The BJP, which wants to return to power after 27 years in government, organizes “Gujarat Gaurav Yatra” on five routes from October 12 to 20. “Gujarat Gaurav Yatra” was also taken out by the party led by then-Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2002 and then ahead of the 2017 general election. This time, the 5,734 km yatra aims to cover 144 of the state’s 182 assemblies constituencies, where more than 145 public sessions are held.
