In a recorded message, CM Yogi Adityanath thanked the people of UP for believing in him by bringing the BJP to power for a second time in the general election earlier this year

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath was named 2022 Indian of the Year in Politics by CNN-News18 on Wednesday. The prime minister, who was unable to attend the event, thanked the people of his state for the faith they have in him by bringing the BJP to power for a second time after general elections earlier this year.

The Prime Minister was unable to attend the event as Uttar Pradesh mourns for three days following the death of Samajwadi Party patriarch and three-time CM Mulayam Singh Yadav.

“I thank the people of my state for believing in me and bringing the BJP to power for the second time, 37 years later we broke Uttar Pradesh’s record with two-thirds of the vote,” said the Prime Minister, expressing his thanks Prime Minister Narendra Modi too.

He also thanked CNN-News18 for receiving the honor and commended the news channel for upholding democratic, ethical journalistic values. He expressed regret at not being able to participate in the program as he oversaw the damage caused by heavy and incessant rain in the state over the past few days.
