Aizawl, the 27th June 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati today morning called on NABARD officials at Raj Bhavan. Pu KVSSLV Prasada Rao, GM, NABARD, Mizoram and his colleagues briefed the Governor on their activities in Mizoram, cooperation with government, banks and private sectors.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati said that NABARD is pleased to provide funds for Mizoram development projects. He said that NABARD has many partners in government and private sectors and invited NABARD employees to continue to be useful contributors for Mizoram development. The Governor said that agriculture and allied sector activities should be promoted more. He invited NABARD to flow more in assisting chicken farmers and fish farmers.
Pu Prasada Rao briefed the Governor on NABARD’s activities in Mizoram. NABARD provides assistance to Mizoram government through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). Under the RIDF, Kudams, warehouses, artisans’ livelihood facilities and other important facilities are constructed in rural areas. He said that private individuals and banks are also involved in the project.
NABARD officials reported that Mizoram Rural Banks and Mizoram Coop. Rs.115 crore was loaned to Apex Bank as refinancing. During the same period, Rs.311 crore has been disbursed to the State Government under RIDF; The government’s debt is Rs.1907 crore. Currently, 495 projects are being implemented with this fund and Rs 440 crore is not yet sanctioned. Some projects need to be implemented more quickly to sanction the outstanding funds.
Mr. T Guite, DGM and Mr. Diginjay Rawal, Asst. Manager, NABARD were also present at the meeting between the Governor and GM, NABARD.
