Since taking the reins as Pakistan captain, Babar Azam has really pushed the men’s national cricket team forward. With Babar at the helm, Pakistan has produced some memorable performances. But there are still some who are skeptical about Babar’s management style, especially ahead of the start of the 2022 T20 World Cup. In the press conference following Thursday’s game between Pakistan and Bangladesh in New Zealand, Babar was asked about a journalist’s criticism of his captaincy. The Pakistani skipper gave a polite but firm answer to the question.

Pakistan was involved in a tri-series involving Bangladesh and New Zealand. The subcontinent’s giants booked their place in the finals after winning 3 of their 4 Tri-Series games.

On Thursday, Babar led the team from the front, scoring 55 balls from 40 to help his team overtake Bangladesh’s 173 total runs in Christchurch. After the game, the Pakistani skipper brilliantly addressed questions about his captaincy in the press conference.

“I don’t know, aap kiski baat kar rahe hain. Jiska naam liya hai main unko jaanta bhi nahi. Ye cheezein chalti hain, achha bhi karte hain toh bhi chalti hai team ko diya jaaye, aur jitna unity bani hui hai usko chalaate rahein (I don’t know who you’re talking about. These things happen, even when we perform well, they happen . But we don’t care, we’re just trying to keep the team’s confidence and unity) Babar said in the post-match conference when asked by a journalist about the criticism of his captaincy.

“Koshish ye hi rehti hai ki ham apna 100 percent de aur jeetein. Kabhi kabhi ham to the mark nahi hote, par ham Discussion card hain aur sochte hain ki kahan ham achha kar sakte hain. (We try to give our 100 percent and win. Sometimes we’re not up to speed, but we discuss and plan things that we can improve),” he added.
