Rakul Preet Singh, who has two more film releases on the horizon this year – Thank God and Doctor Gspeaking on the rise of the boycott trend towards Bollywood films, told The Indian Express: “You should boycott something that affects a certain section of society, but don’t get ahead of yourself and start this conversation because it affects the whole Chain of affects filmmaking, not just the actors.” She added, “The industry is suffering, the number of films that are being made is suffering. So it’s a chain that’s being followed. Employment is going down.”

This year, several Bollywood films became the reluctant center of the boycott trend. Among them were Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Laal Singh ChaddhaAkshay Kumars Raksha BandhanRanbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatts Brahmastra and Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan Vikram Vedha. Rakul Preet Singh was last seen in Cuttputlli, starring Akshay Kumar. She also starred in Ajay Devgns runway 34, this year in which she worked with Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn.
