Kylian Mbappe seeks move from PSG in January: reports

Despite agreeing a deal with Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe made a sensational about-face by signing a new contract with his current club Paris Saint-Germain, running until 2025. However, reports emerged on Tuesday that the France forward is already targeting a move from the club in January.

ESPN have reported that Mbappe has been unhappy during the season so far and that the club has failed to deliver on promises made by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Christophe Galtier.

One of those promises includes playing alongside a second striker in the circle, a difficult task with the Paris team’s star-studded attacking trio, which includes Neymar and Lionel Messi. They also told the 23-year-old they will sign a new centre-back, but they didn’t and his relationship with Neymar has also reportedly deteriorated this year.

Mbappe apparently attacked Galtier and his system in an Instagram Story he later deleted after the team’s 0-0 draw with Reims, posting #pivotgang with a picture of him during the game.

Galtier addressed Mbappe’s unease with the system after the game.

“Those are discussions we often have with Kylian. I exchange a lot with him to reassure him… We are very sensitive to his remarks and his thoughts because he is a very important player,” he said per Reuters.

Mbappe’s approximate annual profit of $128m from his latest PSG deal has put him at the top forbes’ List of the highest paid footballers in the world, becoming the first player in eight years to have brought both Messi and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo to the top.

Spanish release MARCA report that despite previous negotiations with him, Real Madrid are currently not in the running for the Frenchman’s signing given the relationship between club president Florentino Perez and Al-Khelaifi due to this summer’s U-turn as well as opposing opinions in the Superliga.
