Leeds v Arsenal suspended for 38 minutes due to power failure

Sunday’s Premier League game between Leeds United and leaders Arsenal was stopped shortly after kick-off due to a power failure at Elland Road and play was restarted after a 38-minute delay.

The power outage caused problems with the referees’ communication systems, leaving them unable to speak to the VAR.

After the problem could not be resolved after 10 minutes, the referee spoke to both managers and asked the teams to return to the dressing room to boos from the fans inside the stadium.

Play resumed with just over a minute on the clock after power was restored and the referee confirmed both VAR and goal-line technology were operational.
