According to reports Monday, Liverpool striker Luis Diaz will be sidelined until after the World Cup with a knee injury. Diaz suffered the injury in the first half of Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat at Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. The 25-year-old Colombian left Emirates Stadium on crutches with a knee bandage.
Scans have revealed Diaz will not require surgery but it has been reported the injury will keep him away until after the World Cup, which begins on November 20.
Diaz will miss at least 10 games for Jurgen Klopp’s struggling side, who are 14 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.
It’s another blow to Liverpool. Diaz has emerged as an influential figure since joining from Porto in January.
He hopes to be back in action by the time the Premier League resumes in December after the World Cup.
The Reds already have a number of injury problems and Trent Alexander-Arnold is awaiting the results of tests on an ankle injury he sustained against Arsenal.
