Monster Trailer: Mohanlal’s platoon as turban-clad Punjabi-speaking Lucky Singh fights his way through the chaos

There’s talk of a fake investigation, a missing husband and child, and a mystery man. The trailer of Vysakh’s latest directorial monster picks up the pace, introducing the audience in style and with a pinch of Punjabi accent to said mystery man: a turban-clad man, Lucky Singh, played by none other than Mohanlal.

The Malayalam thriller’s nearly two-minute trailer basically serves to set the stage for what appears to be a game of hide-and-seek between the cops and Mohanlal’s Lucky Singh. Monstertrailer keeps its map tight, never revealing too much of the plot, and only teases the audience with its world.

Though chaotic and uneven, the devotee finds a firm footing as Mohanlal enters the frame. The star looks intensely like a sardar, but his opening dialogue, “Hey puttar, mere naal chal” (Hey son, come with me) sounds ridiculously ridiculous.

Monster is directed by Vysakh, who directed Mohanlal’s hit film Pulimurugan. Uday Krishna wrote the screenplay for the film. Krishna had also written the screenplay of Pulimurugan. Monster is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.

Monster also plays Sidhique, Manchu Lakshmi, Honey Rose, Sudev Nair, Ganesh Kumar, Lena. The release date of the film is not yet known. This year, Mohanlal has starred in films such as comedy-drama Bro Daddy, action film Aaraattu, and 12th Man, which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar.
