MP Cong Chief Kamal Nath opens probe into allegations of harassment against party MLAs amid anti-aircraft guns from BJP

In the wake of reports of two Congressional MLAs from Madhya Pradesh being booked for allegedly molesting a female passenger on a train ride, the ruling BJP on Friday slammed the big ole party for being “silent” on the issue.

VD Sharma, President of the Madhya Pradesh BJP, told media representatives that the “reprehensible act by two MLAs has shown the true colors of Congress”.

Sharma also questioned why Congress had remained silent on “this serious matter.” He claimed that Congress is talking about women’s empowerment and women’s safety, on the other hand their MLAs misbehave towards women.

Sharma said that “the action of two Congressional MLAs has revealed their true colors.”

“Your leader Priyanka Gandhi says, Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hun, now I want to ask Priyanka Gandhi what she would do about her party’s MLAs. I condemn this act and believe Congressional leadership would take action against the two MLAs,” Sharma said.

Sources told IANS that State Congress Chairman Kamal Nath has formed a panel of three senior party leaders to establish the truth of the allegations against the MLAs.

“Kamal Nath has asked both MLAs to submit their response to the allegations against them in writing. A committee has also been formed to investigate the matter,” said a Madhya Pradesh Congress source.

I got on the train from Satna and after a few minutes the same woman asked me to change her seat as she was carrying her little baby, so I did the same. We had dinner and, out of courtesy, asked her for dinner. I don’t understand why the woman made such serious allegations against me and my colleague MLA.”

Kushwaha said he didn’t even turn on the lights in the compartment so no one would be disturbed. “After the bunk exchange, there was no further conversation with the woman. It was in Sagar when a police team arrived at our compartment and we found out about the complaint they had made against us,” added Kushwaha.

“How is it possible for anyone to indulge in such a criminal act when there are fellow passengers, ticket inspectors, bus attendants, state railroad police personnel, etc.,” the MLA claimed.

The alleged incident was reported on the intervening Thursday night when they were traveling on a Rewanchal Express (Rewa to Bhopal) AC bus.

The woman claimed the MLAs were drunk, used abusive language and harassed her while driving.

Railway police took action after the woman’s husband issued a series of tweets alerting railway police that his wife was traveling on a train from Rewa to Bhopal and that two heavily intoxicated people in the same compartment were misbehaving towards his wife.

The FIR was registered at the Sagar government railway police station under Section 354 of the IPC, a senior Bhopal police official said.
