Aizawl, 9th June, 2022 : Orientation Training for Taxi Drivers/Operators was held at Vanapa Hall today. The training was organized by Transport Department, Traffic Police, SIRD&PR and Mizoram Taxi Association was held at Pu K.T. Beicho, IRAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Transport Department inaugurated the training as the Chief Guest.

Chief Guest Pu K.T. Beicho said that the training was very important for Taxi Drivers. Drivers are the mirror of the country and the nation. Therefore, it is important that we beware of drugs and follow the traffic rules.

The Chief Minister said that public transport is being used more and more in developed countries due to the increase in population and vehicles , Taxi Drivers should be prepared for these times, he said.

Drivers, your passengers have expectations of you, and that expectation is to reach their destination safely and securely Transport Commissioner & Secretary said that the country’s economy is growing rapidly.

Pu Beicho said that Traffic Rules are for our safety and we should consider them as good teachers and good friends. Drivers are required to keep their vehicles clean and drivers are responsible for their safety. We and our clothes should be clean and well dressed, he said.

The Chief Minister said that drivers should be careful not to carry illegal drugs/alcohol. He advised drivers to be careful not to carry illegal drugs/alcohol. Thank you very much for the training, he said.

The opening ceremony was attended by Pu Rodingliana Chawngthu, MPS, Sr. SP, Traffic chaired the function. Pu Ralthanmawia, President, Mizoram Taxi Association introduced the programme. Pu Khuangthansanga Pakhuangte, Associate Professor, SIRD&PR introduced the programme.

After the opening ceremony, Technical Session was continued. Pu C. Lalbiakthanga, Joint Director (STA), Transport Department gave a lecture on “Motor Vehicle Acts & Rules: Documentations & Registrations” and Pi Golda Dell Zohmangaihi, Core Faculty, ATI gave a lecture on “Manners & Etiquette”. Pu H. Laltanpuia, Inspector, OC, Traffic gave a lecture on “Motor Vehicle Driving Regulations & Responsibilities”.

1003 Taxi (Sticker – A) Drivers participated in the training today. On 6.6.2022 (Tuesday) 710 Taxi (Sticker – B) Drivers participated in the training and on 7.6.2022 (Tuesday) The training was conducted for Taxi (Sticker – C) Drivers.
