Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are two of the best T20 batters in the world right now. The performance of the inaugural combine is critical to Pakistan’s chances at the T20 World Cup. So when Pakistan take on India in the opening game of the Marquee event in Melbourne, all eyes will be on the duo. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan spoke about how the Indian bowlers should line up against the likes of Babar and Rizwan in the much-anticipated clash.

“Don’t give them any breadth at all, especially Rizwan, because he’s the guy who takes the power play on his shoulders. Just try to get the pace going. Babar takes his time. So you have to be aware of this and that situation his batters,” Pathan said on Star Sports.

“First of all, the line has to be on the stumps, with tight lines. And with both batters, the length changes slightly. When it comes to Rizwan, you can afford to roll fuller. You can try to hit him under the punches Knee Roll This is where your line and length can be.

“And when it comes to Babar Aazam you need to get him out of LBW but your aim shouldn’t be on his front leg but behind his leg because it’s slightly open. You see, you have to make that kind of plan. That’s where Arshdeep and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar come in with this peppy delivery. We have to be clear that Pakistan is not very good at spin bowling. So you need to keep an eye on whether you can give the spinners odds on the power play. You know, I’m very tempted to see what the team management is doing.”

Pakistan recently reached the final of the Asian Cup while India dropped out of the Super 4 stage. Sri Lanka was the eventual winner of the continental event.
