Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development projects worth Rs 14,500 crore in Gujarat and inaugurate Mahakal Lok which will offer modern amenities to pilgrims visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple in Madhya Pradesh during his three-day tour starting Sunday. Modi will be in his home state Oct. 9-11, where assembly elections are likely to be held later this year, and visit Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Oct. 11, an official statement said. He will inaugurate several projects in Modhera in Mehsana on Sunday and lay foundation stones for several projects and also offer prayers in two temples.
On Monday he will start various projects at Amod in Bharuch, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar, the statement said. He will travel to Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on October 11th after inaugurating other projects in Ahmedabad and laying the foundation stone. Modi will declare Modhera the first village in India to run on 24-hour solar energy. The first project of its kind realizes Modi’s vision of solarizing the sun temple city of Modhera, the statement said. The project included the development of a ground-mounted solar power plant and more than 1,300 rooftop solar systems on residential and government buildings, all integrated into a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
It will show how India’s renewable energy expertise can empower grassroots people, the statement said. Projects the Prime Minister has dedicated to the nation include the gauge conversion of the Sabarmati-Jagudan railway section, ONGC’s Nandasan geological oil production project and projection mapping at the Sun Temple in Modhera, among others.
In Bharuch, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park. Noting that bulk pharmaceuticals accounted for over 60 percent of total pharmaceutical imports in 2021-22, the statement said the project will play a key role in ensuring import substitution and helping to make India independent in the sector.
Modi will also break ground for the development of several industrial parks. In Ahmedabad, Modi will inaugurate Phase 1 of Modi Shaikshanik Sankul, an educational complex for needy students. The project will provide students with facilities for holistic development, the statement said. He will inaugurate and lay the foundations of various health facilities valued at Rs 1,300 crore on October 11 at Asarwa Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.
The projects in Jamnagar relate to irrigation, electricity, water supply and urban infrastructure. Regarding Mahakal Lok, the statement said the first phase of the project would help enrich the experience of pilgrims visiting the temple by providing them with world-class modern amenities. The project aims to decongest the entire area and pay special attention to the preservation and restoration of historical structures. As part of the project, the temple precinct will be expanded nearly seven times. The total cost of the whole project is around Rs 850 crore, the statement said.
The temple’s existing attendance, which currently stands at about 1.5 million per year, is expected to double, she added.
