PM Modi inaugurates the first phase of the Mahakal corridor project in MP on Tuesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the first phase of “Shri Mahakal Lok” (corridor) to the nation on Tuesday in the city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Interior Minister Narottam Mishra said on Monday. Built as one of the largest corridors in the country, the more than 900-metre-long “Mahakal Lok” corridor stretches around the ancient Rudrasagar Lake, which was also revived as part of the rehabilitation project surrounding the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple on the 12th century “jyotirlings” in the country attracting large numbers of followers, an official said.

Two majestic gates – Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar – separated by a short distance were constructed near the starting point of the corridor that meanders to the entrance of the temple and offers an aesthetic sight along the way, he said. A majestic colonnade with 108 ornate pillars made of intricately carved sandstone, bubbling fountains and a continuous panel of more than 50 murals depicting stories from the “Shiv Puran” are among the main highlights of the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, the official said. The state government is making extensive preparations for the big event on Tuesday evening, he said.

PM Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the Rs 856 crore corridor development project for Mahakaleshwar Temple which is located about 200 km from the state capital Bhopal. The first phase of the Mahakal Lok was developed at a cost of Rs 316 crore, an official said earlier. Prime Minister Modiji will dedicate the first phase of Mahakal Lok to the nation. It will be an unforgettable moment for all of us. The entire state is waiting for this moment and we all will participate in the event in one way or another, Minister Narottam Mishra, who is also spokesman for the state government, told reporters. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a round of Mahakal Lok on Sunday reviewing preparations for the big event.

After visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple and Mahakal Lok, the mystical and wondrous premises should hold a permanent place in people’s hearts, Chouhan said. Madhya Pradesh BJP President Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Ministers of State Bhupendra Singh and Mohan Yadav and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
