The election for the Congress Party presidential post will take place on Monday 17 October, where senior leaders Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge will compete for the top post.
Meanwhile, the party’s Secretary General for Communications, Jairam Ramesh, has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in Karnataka as part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, along with 40 other delegates who are part of it, returned from a campsite in Ballari out will vote the yatra.
“There have been inquiries as to where @RahulGandhi will cast his ballot for tomorrow’s presidential election in Congress. There should be no speculation. He will vote along with around 40 other Bharat Yatris who are PCC delegates at the #BharatJodoYatra campsite in Sanganakallu, Ballari,” he said on Twitter.
Ramesh had previously said the Central Elections Authority decided to set up a polling booth at the Ballari campsite where all delegates will cast their ballots, according to the PTI.
The day is a rest day for the Bharat Jodo Yatra to allow participants to cast their votes in the election.
The results of the election will be announced on October 19th.
