Roads of UP to be made better than America before 2024, says Union Min Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari donated Rs 8,000 crores worth of road projects to Uttar Pradesh on Friday, saying the state’s roads would be made better than America’s roads by 2024.

After the opening of the 81st session of the Indian Road Congress (IRC), Gadkari, who was the main guest of the event, said that a total of Rs 5 lakh crore will be invested in roads in Uttar Pradesh by 2024, an official publication said.

“The roads of Uttar Pradesh need to be made better than America before 2024. For that, the Modi government will approve five lakh crore rupees for UP in the coming days,” Mr Gadkari said ANI.

At present, projects worth Rs. 8,000 crore are being awarded, Gadkari said, adding that these are the Rs. 1,212 crore Shahabad-Hardoi Bypass, the Rs to Kashipur (2,007 crore rupees). , 13 railway over bridges (Rs 1,000 crore), among others.

He added that this is just the beginning, the full film is yet to come. “The government does not lack money to build good roads,” he added.

According to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Gadkari appealed to all stakeholders “Vishwakarmas,” the people behind road infrastructure development, to ensure rapid, integrated, and sustainable infrastructure development in the country with ecological preservation, technology, innovation, safety, and quality construction of roads.

The need of the hour is to use ‘waste’ for road construction without harming the environment in Uttar Pradesh, the minister said, adding that attention needs to be paid to the environment in addition to economics.

Gadkari also urged people to use CNG, ethanol, methanol and electric vehicles instead of diesel and gasoline vehicles, which would make fares cheaper. Today we make one milliliter of bioethanol from stubble and we are also working on making bio-CNG from it, he said PTI.

“This three-day session of the IRC will be a great opportunity for engineers, professionals and road sector experts from India and abroad to come together and make efforts for safer and sustainable roads to support Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s $5 trillion vision drive the economy forward,” he added.

Gadkari also held a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow where ongoing and planned National Highway projects in Uttar Pradesh were discussed in detail.

Occasionally the Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, was also present.
