See: Mohammed Shami gives Shaheen Shah Afridi tips on seam placement

The upright seam was the prominent feature of Mohammed Shami’s bowling due to his wrist position. It seems like Pakistani left-arm pacesetter Shaheen Shah Afridi is also a big fan of Shami’s bowling.

In a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Indian pacesetter Mohammed Shami can be seen giving tips to Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Shaheen, who is coming back after a long injury layoff, welcomed Shami on the sidelines of the Net session in Gabba. He said: “Shami bhai kaise hai aap (How are you).”

jabse maine bowling start ki hai tabse mai aapko follow kar raha hun, aapki na wrist position aur naht ka jawab nahi hai (I’ve been following you since I started bowling, and I’ve been a huge fan of your wrist position and upright seam since that time,” Shaheen said.

Shami very patiently answered all of Shaheen’s questions. He is heard saying: “Agar release point acha ho jayega na suture bhi theek ho jayega (If the release point is on point, the seam is automatically good.”

Shami has joined Team India as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah, while Shaheen is making a comeback after being sidelined for a month with a knee injury.

Shami was at his best in India’s six-run warm-up win over Australia on Monday. With Australia needing 11 from the last over, Rohit Sharma passed the ball to Shami. The experienced sewer did not disappoint; he took three wickets, influenced one run and gave away just four runs.

India meets New Zealand in their next warm-up game before taking on Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23.
