Sidharth Malhotra feels that his good looks worked against him: “People like to see things superficially and not…”

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra is about to complete a decade in the Hindi film industry. He started his film career with Karan Johar student of the year along with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. But his career didn’t prosper as much as his contemporaries and he starred in around 11 films, most of which didn’t make the box office. He recently found success when his film Shershaah received rave reviews. Now looking back on his journey in the film industry, Sidharth feels he has “seen the extremes of the business”.

The actor shared in a recent interview that he expected some of his films to do better and when they didn’t, it took a toll on him. Also, Sidharth, who is often praised for his good looks, said somewhere that it was his looks that were against him and people couldn’t connect with him.

He told IndiaToday.in: ‘I never thought that in this profession taking care of your eyes would be negative. I thought we were here to face the camera and save our eyes, but sometimes it’s more negative.” He continued, “People like to see superficial things and don’t really connect with them.”

Sidharth is finally happy that his hard work has finally paid off after ten years in the industry his film Shershaah. In the film, the actor played the role of war hero Captain Vikram Batra. Directed by Vishnu Varadhan, the film was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 and received recognition for sensitively pieced together the life of Captain Batra, who fought to his last breath during the 1999 Kargil War.

The actor will next be seen on screen alongside Ajay Devgn in Thank God. Rakul Preet Singh and Nora Fatehi also star in the Indra Kumar film.
