Sports & Youth Services Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte today awarded youth athletes who participated in the Khelo India Youth Games

Aizawl, the 18th June 2022 : Sports & Youth Services Department Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte today evening inaugurated the Khelo India Youth Games, June 4-13, 2020 at MINECO Conference Room Felicitation Program was held to celebrate the medal winners of youth athletes.

He said that the Allocation of Business Rules for National School Games and School Education have been revised to Sports & Youth Services. National School Games is a promotion to higher level competitions, therefore it should not be ignored. One of the most important plans for this purpose is three Sports Schools. Mamit, Zobawk, ‚Äč‚ÄčLunglei and Lawngtlai schools are being built at a cost of cheng nuai 3,400 each. The schools are expected to start next year. The program was conducted by Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services chaired the meeting. Reports from Pu Vanlalrova, Chief De Mission, Mizoram Team leader and Deputy Director, Sports & Youth Services were heard. Gifts were presented to all the participating athletes.

59 youth athletes from Mizoram participated in 10 sports disciplines and won 4 medals (Gold – 2; Silver – 1 and Bronze – 1). Mizoram Football Boys Team beat Kerela Team 5 – 1 in the final match. Table Tennis: Jeho Himnakulhpuingheta won the Gold Medal. Boxing (Girls) 63 kg category-ah Rudy Lalhmingmuani won silver medal while Weightlifting (Boys) 67 kg category-ah Silvan Beihrothatlo won bronze medal. Mizoram Medal Tally is 23rd among 36 states and UTs.

Khelo India Youth Games is a youth competition for school/college students aged 17 and 21 years. He must be 8th in the India Rankings to qualify for the team game. Individual events such as individual participation are eligible for the Khelo India Youth Games be. Wild cards are given to a few participating states in India. To get a wild card, you have to win medals at the national level.
