Finn Allen showed his form ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup by scoring a top goal for New Zealand with a disciplined batting performance in Tuesday’s Christchurch Tri Series in the nine-wicket game against Pakistan in Christchurch. Allen fired six sixes on a tally of 62 from 42 as the Black Caps easily chased 130-7 at Hagley Oval as New Zealand celebrated their second win of the series.

The hosts’ victory leaves both Pakistan and New Zealand on two wins and one loss each, while the Black Caps take on Bangladesh on Wednesday, also in Christchurch.

The three nations will use the week-long tournament to fine-tune for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this month

The Black Caps avenged Saturday’s loss to Pakistan with an improved bowling performance before Allen and Devon Conway quickly found their stride in an opening 117 partnership to set up the win.

After Allen was defeated by Mohammad Rizwan, Black Caps captain Kane Williamson replaced him at the crease to eventually claim the winning singles as New Zealand won with 23 balls remaining.

After leading New Zealand to victory over Bangladesh last Sunday with a 70 unbeaten run, Conway was impressive again at the kink, grabbing five fours in his 49-of-46 unbeaten record.

Pakistan was not allowed to put up with either the bat or the ball.

New Zealand bowler Michael Bracewell clinched the man-of-the-match award again by winning key wickets of prolific opening pair Rizwan (16) and captain Babar Azam (21) in fine numbers by two to eleven from his four overs.

Iftikhar Ahmed had the highest score with 27, including three fours.

Tim Southee removed Iftikhar and Mohammad Nawaz with the endgame’s first two deliveries, but Mohammad Wasim survived the hat-trick ball.
