Group 2 of the Super 12 leg of the ICC T20 World Cup opened on Thursday as Zimbabwe stunned Pakistan in a goalless game in Perth. After all six teams in the group were in action on Thursday, there was a lot of movement in the points table. India are now top of the table with 4 points after putting on a solid performance against the Netherlands and winning their game in Sydney by 56 runs.

South Africa put their disappointment at the abandoned game against Zimbabwe behind Bangladesh in the first game of the day, also played in Sydney.

Both Zimbabwe and South Africa have three points from two games but the Proteas are currently in second place as they have a better net run rate.

Bangladesh is fourth with 2 points from 2 games while Pakistan and the Netherlands are bottom of the group as they have yet to win games and have no points.

That makes the group interesting because with games against Bangladesh and the Netherlands, Zimbabwe are now in a good position to break out of the group.

South Africa, on the other hand, must win one of the two games against India and Pakistan in order to continue playing.

Promoted

Pakistan must win all games and rely on other teams’ results to progress.
