Vikram Vedha Box Office Collection Day 9: Hrithik Roshan-Saif Ali Khan Thriller is seeing a surge in numbers, here’s what made it stand out

After an average business week, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starring Vikram Vedha has seen its numbers increase. According to initial estimates, Gayathri and Pushkar Directorate collected Rs 3.75 to Rs 4.05 crore on Saturday, bringing the total collection to Rs 65 crore.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, national multiplex chains reported an increase in admissions, belying the assumption that the film only did well in individual theaters.

The report goes on to say that there would be another peak on Sunday which would take the 10-day deal to around Rs 70 crore. While the film would end at Rs 80-90 crore, much higher than most films this year, it’s quite a low figure for a Hrithik Roshan film. Even the lifetime collection would not be able to reach the coveted Rs 100 crore mark.

Vikram Vedha, an adaptation of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name, was released on September 30 and received quite a positive response from critics and fans. Shubhra Gupta said in her review for The Indian Express that Vikram Vedha had a “really good time at the movies”.

Part of her review read, “The almost faithful Hindi remake isn’t all that bad, although it’s not as good as the original. In Tamil, not only is the initial animation strip about the mythos of Vikram and Betaal from Betaal Pachchisi more elaborate, the characters feel more grounded and the supporting cast get a little more work to do. Most importantly, the lead duo has more swag than swagger, and that makes all the difference. Looks matter in Bollywood – Saif Ali Khan’s souped-up physique gets more attention than R Madhavan’s burly physique, though they sport similar smart lines; and Hrithik’s near-dreadlocks are plucked out more artfully than Sethupathi’s smooth gray stubble.’

Vikram Vedha also plays Rohit Saraf, Radhika Apte, Yogita Bihani and Sharib Hashmi, among others.
