Watch: Mohammad Rizwan hails Suryakumar Yadav and opens up their battle for No. 1 in the T20I rankings

There is fierce competition between Mohammad Rizwan and Suryakumar Yadav for first place in the T20I rankings. Pakistani wicket-keeper batter is currently in first place, followed by Suryakumar Yadav of India.

After his 78/50 match win against Bangladesh in the T20 Tri series in New Zealand, Rizwan was asked how he compares to Suryakumar Yadav.

Rizwan greeted Suryakumar but also pointed out the difference between them. He said: Good player hain Suryakumar Yadav. Jis tarah se woh khelte hain, mujhe bohot pasand hai. (He’s a good player and I really enjoy the way he plays).

Magar jaha tak cheezen hai and various tarike se dekha jae kyunki middle order and highest order mukhtalif cheezen hain (As far as comparisons go, there’s a difference, I’m an opener while he’s a mid-tier hitter).

Kabhi No.1 ke liye socha nahi hain jo he requires Pakistan ki woh pura karne ki koshish kar raha hu. (I’ve never played for number 1, I’m just trying to meet the needs of the team).”

No.1 or Man of the Match, aise kuch cheeze hain jo negative main le jati hain. Par main sochta nahi hu. (The ranking and player of the game leads to negativity and I don’t think about it much,” he added.

Pakistan have continued their unbeaten run in the ongoing series after recording an impressive six-wicket win over New Zealand on Saturday.

In exactly two weeks, Pakistan play India to kick off their World Cup campaign on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
