India and Pakistan will play a high-tension Super 12 match in the T20 World Cup on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, everyone is wondering if Raser Shaheen Afridi is fit to face India. Shaheen had missed the Asia Cup and then the seven-game T20I series due to injury. He’s completed his rehab in London and now it remains to be seen whether the pacesetter will play the warm-up games ahead of the India game.
Pakistani captain Babar Azam attended the Captains’ Call organized by the ICC and briefed the media on Shaheen’s fitness to play.
“Shaheen came back, Fakhar came back too. We have six days for the first game and we also have two training games. We have to use that. Shaheen especially the way he came back, he’s fully fit and he always gives 100 percent. I’m looking forward to seeing him play,” said Babar.
Pakistan has a solid fast bowling lineup with Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah. Babar said that Pakistan has always produced high quality fast bowlers and is proud of it.
“Pakistan has always produced top-notch bowlers. Our fast bowling lineup is also very strong. With the return of Shaheen, she will become stronger. We played with different combinations in our previous games. Haris Rauf improved his bowling new ball and on death. We can go with different combinations,” said Babar.
When asked about the India game, Babar said: “Whenever you play India, it’s always a high-intensity game. The fans are also waiting for this game, we are enjoying the competition on the field. We try to play good cricket and we try to do our best.”
