Yogi Adityanath announces three days of national mourning in UP for Mulayam Singh Yadav

Yogi Adityanath also spoke to SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath announced three days of national mourning as a mark of respect for Samajwadi party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, who passed away on Monday. Yadav, 82, died at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. “The Government of Uttar Pradesh announces three days of national mourning over the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav. His last rites are performed with full state honor,” Adityanath said in a Hindi tweet.

According to sources, Adityanath also spoke to SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav by phone and expressed his condolences. Deputy Prime Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Bahujan Samaj party leader Mayawati and senior BJP leaders also expressed their condolences over the death of Yadav.

“The news of the death of the high-ranking SP leader and former Prime Minister is sad. I extend my condolences to the leader’s family members and well-wishers. May God give them strength to face the grief,” Mayawati said in a Hindi tweet.
