Aizawl, June 22, 2022 : Cooperation Department Minister Pu C.Lalrinsanga today attended the 18th General Assembly of Mizoram Cooperative Fish Farming Marketing and Processing Federation Limited (ZOFISFED) at Hawla Indoor Stadium, Republic Vengah.
Minister Pu C. Lalrinsanga said that Mizoram’s fish production is not only self-sufficient but also exportable to other states. He said that ZOFISFED has brought many developments to the fish farmers and the government is ready to support ZOFISFED. He said that the General Assembly theme of fish farmers should be implemented in the field of fish farming. ZOFISFED leaders and members were advised not to have any personal interest within their organization and to remember that they are working for the future of the country and the people.
ZOFISFED Managing Director Dr. O.P. Singh also outlined the overall activities and plans of the organisation. The theme of this year’s ZOFISFED General Assembly is ‘Sangha farming through Cooperative Societies’ The General Assembly was attended by Society members from Siaha, Champhai, Kolasib, Mamit and Serchhip districts. Annual Audited Report 2020-21 discussed at the General Assembly; Bungling Fish Farming C/S Ltd. Report from ZOFISFED Ltd. on bye laws amendment and Sangha sale and import in Aizawl city was heard. The meeting also discussed the issues of the country’s economy.
ZOFISFED was established on October 29, 1998. As of 2019-20, there are forty-three Affiliated Primary Fishery Cooperative Societies. ZOFISFED is responsible for Fish Seed Farm, Fisheries Marketing Programme, Two Wheeler Mobile Fish Retail Marketing, Fish Feed Production and others.
